Hubert Tillmon, owner of Tillmon Auction Service (TAS), has been a licensed and bonded professional Auctioneer for over 28 years. Upon retiring from the military in 1989 after 20 years of service, he opened Tillmon & Daughter Antiques in Tacoma, WA, which he operated for 11 years. Shortly after opening his shop, Mr. Tillmon obtained his Auctioneer license and began selling his restored and refinished antique furniture at public auction.

About the same time, he began his secondary business of assisting storage facilities with their delinquent and abandoned storage units by selling them at open public auction. His method was new, and came at a time when many facilities were selling units by means of the silent auction process or by selling them to a private buyer. Mr. Tillmon’s knowledge of furniture and collectibles enabled him to recognize value in storage units that were being sold for far less than they were worth by means of the silent auction process.

By comparison, his business model is one that efficiently and consistently recovers the maximum amount of money per unit over all other means of selling. Mr. Tillmon began selling delinquent storage units for Urban Self Storage, Inc. over 20 years ago, when they had just one facility to their name. Urban Self Storage, Inc. has grown into a leading management company in the NW with over 60 facilities totaling almost 33,000 units and counting. Tillmon Auction Service has grown right alongside of them including, adding Mr. Tillmon’s daughter, Cycely Piquet, as an Auctioneer for TAS. He has since added to his clientele with several other privately owned storage facilities.
